Drug protein binding is measured using equilibrium dialysis chambers that separate plasma and buffer fractions. The bound fraction is the percentage of input drug that remains bound to plasma proteins (albumin, glycoprotein, globulins, lipoprotein). The free fraction is the percentage equilibrating to the buffer. Typically it is the free fraction concentration of a drug that is available for its bioactivity.
Cytoscient offers equilibrium dialysis measurement of drug protein binding in human plasma. Testing in animal plasmas (monkey, dog, rat and mouse) is also available.
